Mark 5:21-22 The Bleeding Woman is All of US

In Mark 5 the story of the bleeding woman shows us that Jesus will go where he is welcomed-YES even in our "dirty" shameful places. But so will our enemy.

To me the bleeding woman symbolizes things from our past or present that make us feel guilt, shame, regret, bitterness. Jesus showed up for the woman full of shame, dirtiness, and likely loneliness. I know that I have felt all of those things, albeit not for the same reason as this beautifully faithful woman, but there are things preventing me from healing past wounds. But, here is the thing- God can't heal what we conceal.

I have had some moments of desperation in my life. I'd like to say that I always went to God in those times- truth is I haven't. Many times I caved and let the enemy show up to use my "issue" to isolate me from God, from people, from healthy relationships.

You see, just like in the story of the bleeding woman- God showed up because, out of desperation, the woman just wanted to touch the bottom of Jesus' garment. There is a different kind of worship that can only be when life is at its worst. When you feel that you are at your worst-- who do you turn to you in your desperation, your loneliness, your hurt? I am learning to turn towards Him, even when it's difficult.

The woman at the well's healing started with a posture of desperation, humility and faith. So can mine. And so can yours.
